What is Hema, I hear you think. Hema unmistakably is a part of the Dutch identity. Hema is a chain of shop, establish in the 1920 by Arthur Isaac and Leo Meyer . These men wanted to open a shop that would offer nice items for a low price because at that time there was a great economic crisis. The first shop was opened in Amsterdam in 1926.

Hema Amsterdam, the first Hema ever.
Over 85 years later, with almost 500 shops in our tiny country, Hema is alive and kicking. They even opened shops in Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany and France.Their articles are still nice (great actually), affordable and very hip. They sell everything but furniture. Everything is produced under their own management and has that certain Hema flair to it, light, colorful, quirky, and well designed.
Here are some photo’s of their latest catalogue “organize”. With articles that you need to organize your home and your life.
Did you notice the card rack in the first photo? Here it is in my bedroom, holding some much-loved cards and photo’s. An affordable card rack was on my wish list for a long time.
What do you think? Could you love Hema?
